The power of Solid State!

See the difference.

This shows two recordings of the same laptop. the laptop was roughly 8 years old with a Pentium class processor.
There are two recordings, the top one shows the original Hard Disk Drive (HDD) whilst the bottom one has the new Solid State Drive (SSD). The first is the 'boot' or start-up test, here the computer starts from scratch so needs to load everything from the Hard or Solid State drive. The second test is the 'reboot'. In this test the computer must neatly save the current settings and applications, before restarting all over again. As you'll see there is quite a difference!

Hard Disk Drive vs Solid State Drive

Upgrading to a Solid State Drive truely can bring an aging computer back from the scrap heap. Unlike traditional hard disk drives, which have small moving parts inside, Solid State Drives are purely electronic resulting in superior speed, power effeciency, reliability and durability.
For the user, this means a reduction in the time it takes for the computer to start, it allows apps to open and run faster as well as being a less of a drain on the battery so the runtime increases . This upgrade really does make a huge difference and can extented the life of your laptop by quite some time.

Benefits of Solid State Drives

Simple, Powerful

Responsive

Because SSD's are purely elctronic and have no moving partes, then can run up to 10x faster

Efficient

Another advantage of having no moving parts is their power efficiency. Making a laptop last longer on one charge

Lightweight

Ever wished you could make your laptop lighter. Admittedly it's not a huge amount but SSD's are about half the weight of a traditional hard drive.

Silent

Solid State Drive's are totally silent, not even a hum!

Reliable

As there are no moving parts, even though Solid Drives have only been around for a relatively short time they are much more reliable

Robust

Another good for not having moving parts inside mean they're more resistant to drops, knocks and bangs.

Common questions

  • How can I get my computer to your service centre?

There are three ways to get the computer to us:

    1. Drop off - If you live nearby, you can drop it off, free of charge. We operate on an appointment system and will be dicussed during you initial consultation with your Tech Expert. We are based in Brighton, just North of the marina. Please go to the 'About Us' page for more details.
    2. Tech Expert collection & redelivery - If you live in a BN postcode area and would like your computer collected. We offer a £5 Tech Expert collection and redelivery service.

  • Do I need to backup my data?

as part of this everything stored on the old hard drive is transfered across to the new solid state drive so in most cases you will receive the computer back with everything as it was.

Having said that, we always recommend as good practice to backup your data as we cannot be held responsible for any loss.

  • Is there any warranty?

We strive on every occassion to ensure the problem is fixed first time. But sometimes for unexpected reasons it can reoccur.

If the same issue happens within 30 days of the original puchased service, we'll arrange for the repair to be carried out again at no extra cost.

  • Do I need to include the charger when sending laptop?

Yes, definitely! There are so many different designs and specificiations of charger it is important we have the charger currently being used. In some cases it may be the charger thats at fault.

  • Where can I find you?

    We are located at:

    9 The Broadway, Whitehawk Road, BN2 5NF!
